Welcome to The Pottery in Atascadero, a studio founded and owned by Alecia Teague. Alecia has been working with pottery for over eight years, honing her skills and mastering her craft. Her passion for pottery grew when she realized how therapeutic and meditative it can be to create something beautiful from a lump of clay.
Alecia holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland, where she studied drawing and painting. Her love for pottery began in 2016, when she and her family moved back to the UK - in Sheffield, England. Here she took a year long foundation pottery course and continued her education until she moved back to California in 2019. Upon her return, she opened a pottery studio in her house and taught various courses around town, including Studios on the Park in Paso Robles.
Alecia is not only an accomplished artist but also a devoted wife and mom of three. She understands the importance of creating a space where families can come together to learn, have fun, and create lasting memories. Alecia holds a teaching credential and has previous teaching experience at Cuesta College, where she shared her love for pottery with students of all ages.
Alecia's passion for pottery extends beyond the studio, and she takes pride in being a part of the local community. She believes that pottery can be a powerful tool to bring people together, and she is dedicated to using her skills to give back to the community.
At The Pottery, you will find a welcoming and inclusive environment where you can explore your creativity, learn new skills, and connect with others. Whether you are a seasoned potter or a beginner, Alecia and her team are here to guide you on your pottery journey.
Thank you for choosing The Pottery, and we look forward to welcoming you soon!

Hello! My name is Cassidy Crawford. I was born and raised in Atascadero and feel so privileged to get to instruct and assist in operating The Pottery. My love for pottery began in highschool but quickly developed after only a few classes at the local community college, then further in my home studio where I self taught and developed my forever curiosity of this medium! When going to school for my BFA degree at UCSC I was lucky enough to expand my knowledge and experience of pottery science through an internship in the Santa Cruz mountains while also teaching at a local studio. After moving back to the central coast I was seeking a potters community when I stumbled upon The Pottery. I am grateful to get to do what I love and have muddy hands everyday. In my classes I focus on the fundamentals and foundational elements in order to set you up for future challenges fit for anyone's forever pottery journey.
Everett Kinkade Smet is passionate about fostering creative freedom and spreading the love of art and ceramics. She enjoys wheel throwing, leading workshops, watercolor painting, spending time with her husband and animals, and binge-reading novels. Everett's art is inspired by nature, with her ceramics featuring simple shapes and natural tones that echo the beauty of the outdoors. Her maker's mark, a butterfly formed from her initials, symbolizes metamorphosis, reflecting the personal and artistic transformations she encourages through her art and teaching.

Elena Capousis has been working with clay for the last 12 years. I received a BFA in Art Education and Craft & Materials studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016. I like to alternate between wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques. Most of my work is functional and intended for food centric gatherings with loved ones.
I nerd out over wild clay, local materials, atmospheric firing techniques, and historical pots! I am so thrilled to continue learning, growing and engaging with the ever blossoming pottery community of Atascadero!
